PROPERTY: 1100 sq. ft. 1890’s house, gutted in 2005. Midtown Arts District, Kingston, NY
GOALS: Redesign a plain and frugally-renovated house into a Scandinavian-inspired space with higher-end fixtures; paint all walls to showcase colorful artwork, new modern furniture, and vintage objects; demolish half the driveway and chain link fencing to create a carport, horizontal wood slat fencing, bluestone walkway, and a newly landscaped garden; add heating to basement; paint kitchen cabinets and replace all pulls and knobs; add custom-designed window shades; change all doorknobs; demo and replace roof; repaint exterior of the house; demo and replace exterior doors and hardware; add custom wallpaper.
CHALLENGES: Low ceilings, small rooms, and city services that ran underneath the ground in the front.
